Дом Bulgari произвел замечательное впечатление. В принципе со многими новинками компания познакомила уже в Женеве (кто не читал:
Pre-Basel 2016: новинки Bulgari, показанные в Женеве), но то, что довезли до Базеля заслуживает всяческого внимания.

Отдельной истории заслуживает "змеиная" тема. Это конек Bulgari на протяжении всей истории и очень приятно, что бренд стремится обновить коллекцию не противореча историческим прототипам. Далеко не у всех это получается.

The symbol of Myron’s Discobolus (Discus Thrower) sets the tone for Diagono watches. The Discus Thrower is the best-known work by Myron of Eleutherae, a Greek sculptor who worked exclusively in bronze and hailed from the region of Attica. He earned a major place in the history of art and he became famed for both his inventiveness and his boldness, of which the Discobolus provides an eloquent demonstration. The young Greek athlete is depicted in full swing, at the very moment when his perfect, sleekly muscular body expresses the moment of statis just before release of the discus, thereby revealing the play of forces between two opposite movements. By dint of outstanding technical and artistic skill, Myron succeeded in eliminating the customary rigidity of classic sculptures.

Bulgari Diagono was one of the very first watches to use materials such as aluminium. That was back in 1998 and caused a sensation on the international watchmaking scene, as well as a major upheaval in the design world. Many celebrities adopted it and pop star Sting would never perform on stage without his Diagono watch on his wrist. An airliner regularly criss-crossed the globe flying the Bulgari colours and bearing the effigy of the Diagono watch. A world premiere and an incredibly daring feat. Then came the age of titanium, bringing fresh boldness, a new wager and further success. The rubber strap was also an original touch. In 2015, Diagono introduced a whole new technological dimension with the use of magnesium and the combination of three resolutely technical materials. Each represented a revolution in the often staid world of fine watchmaking. For lovers of style, fashion and design, these were truly daring accomplishments.

Magnesium: sturdiness and lightness. Well known for its organic and chemical properties, magnesium is a metal with a silvery white sheen. Peek and ceramic: cutting-edge materials. Stepping things up a further notch in terms of efficiency, Bulgari has chosen to enhance the Diagono watch with certain elements in PEEK (PolyEtherETherKetone), an ultra-sturdy and light polymer used instead of metals in the design of aircraft and space shuttles. PEEK is distinguished by its exceptional solidity. Its rigidity and its dimensional stability enable it to withstand high-temperature, hostile environments. It is both easy to treat and particularly light compared with steel, aluminium and titanium. The properties of this polymer are partially similar to those of the ceramic from which the bezel of the Diagono Magnesium is made: lightness, extreme wear resistance and imperviousness to scratching
Motorlac: a high-performance coating. Motorlac is an extremely high-quality protective lacquer used in the field of motorsports. It both clothes and protects the competition-ready mechanics of the finest sports cars. It is however not a purely ornamental or decorative element, but instead a technical component capable of withstanding extreme temperatures or variations in the expansion of materials. Moreover, Motorlac also creates a surprising granulated texture and colourful new reflective effects. That is why the Bulgari designers chose it to develop four proprietary shades specially intended for Diagono Magnesium.
