Or England rather
Nice to find this side of the forum - I feel more at ease communicating in English than Russian!
Found this forum via the Steinhart Limited Edition project with Gunter. Well I don't know much about watches, and I'm definitely not a collector! Thought it'd be fun to try and fit into this forum. I'm normally on the WUS forum.
Here is my current watch:
Aren't you impressed?
Probably not. Well I am. It's not the best watch, nor the cheapest, but it is actually made by Movado, the company who make Ebel and Concord watches. The automatic movements are very good. I like it not because of the label, but because of its design. It's probably nowhere near as good as a Valjoux 7750 but I figure it will last me 2 years with the warranty (if I don't rattle it apart).
It's the most expensive watch I've ever had which works more than a year! I'm not a collector nor a gadget frea, so I've only ever owned a handful of watches. Mostly, I use my mobile phone clock, but I suppose as I'm getting older, or rather, because of technological developments boring us to pieces with quartz chips and cheap electronics, I'm starting to appreciate proper crafted mechanical vintage watches again.
My parents gave me a Milus each when I was a kid - here's one which I restored after painstaking work (image). I couldn't get the other one fixed because it is an automatic and the parts seem broken. It's my favourite watch. I haven't seen another like it, but I intend to take care of this one. I know it's not much compared to the millions of watches you have on your photobucket albums lol. But hey - that's me
My next watch: I've been looking at the Steinhart watches or the Stowa watches. I get around riding a motorcycle, so most of my watches break within a year, usually from contact damage. I quite like the Russian Steinhart design. it seems to have a certain ... panache? about it .. which the others don't. Maybe it's the blue stripes. Anyway, I've been told I'm a foreigner on this board and I've got as much hope as a hen laying a golden egg in getting onto the reserve list.
Oh well. Maybe I need to lower my sights then. Anyone got a good Vostok Kommandirske with a big bright red star on the front dial for sale?
See you on the forum
