I am pleased to confirm that as a non-EU customer, you do not pay VAT on items purchased from Charles Tyrwhitt. However, in line with a number of other companies, in April 2011 we adopted an impartial pricing policy. This means that all customers pay the same price for items wherever they reside. Let me stress, non-EU customers will not be charged VAT, however, you will pay the prices advertised online and in our brochures.
For example, this means that if both you and an EU customer purchase the same £29.95 shirt, you will both pay the same £29.95 total item cost. The EU customer is actually paying £23.96 for the shirt, along with £5.99 in VAT. The non-EU customer is paying £29.95 for the shirt.
Whilst I understand this is disappointing as you may see this as a price increase, significant additional administrative costs for overseas customers are covered within the prices we charge. We also cover the cost of replacements in the event that an international parcel should go missing.
As a result of the above, we will not be able to issue you with a refund on this occasion. If there is anything else we can help you with, please feel free to get in touch.
