The balance, which is now
crafted from a beryllium-free alloy, has a moment
of inertia of 21 mg x cm2 (compared to
just 9.4 mg x cm2 for the one in Caliber 2500),
which further improves the stability of the rate.
The innovative alloy, used only for Omega and
Breguet (the high-end luxury brand also
owned by the Swatch Group), guarantees ideal
temperature coefficients. To fix its active
length precisely, one end of the Nivarox-
Anachron balance spring is affixed using a
patented 90° bend. In this way, Omega avoids
potential errors in pinning or gluing this spring
to the balance-spring stud because the spring’s
inactive end no longer exerts an influence on
its active portion
