Basel Fair 2006 - Nautica offers a captains view of adventure with the introduction of Oblò, its impressive new sporting watch. Drawing inspiration from vintage seafaring elements, in this case a porthole, Nautica continues to evolve the fusion of classic and contemporary. Oblò is Italian for porthole, a circular window on a ship. Vintage portholes are highly prized maritime artifacts, probably because of their connection to a glorious age of exploration and adventure.
The Oblò collection features a complex architecture combining clean bold looks with intricate details in a multidimensional presentation. The signature element of the sophisticated sports watch is three prominent screw-downs, resembling porthole clamps or dogs as they are called by sailors. The handsome bracelet features black resin integrated with stainless steel. Alternate versions include black resin with stainless screws, nautical navy blue or white resin, and a solid stainless steel bracelet.
Oblòs design combines luminescent hour markers with a two-tone carbon fiber dial housed in a masculine stainless steel case. Mother of pearl dials are also available as well as a full sail version of Oblò thats decked out with diamonds on the dial and bezel. The watch sports a Swiss chronograph quartz movement with patented double rotor motor and rotating stepping motors. It is water resistant to 100M and is available in 48mm and 40mm sizes.
Oblò has the look and feel of adventure, states Scott Wolfe, International Brand Manager for Nautica watches. Its more than a timepiece. Its a statement about the man who wears it.
