I am trying to do some research about G. Monnin. Apparently, they were a French company that made the very first divers watches (and some chronograph models) for Heuer. They also manufactured watches for other companies too. There is almost no information about G. Monnin on the internet and even speculation to what the 'G' stood for. Some people have commented that it stands for 'Georges' but I cannot find any conclusive evidence to support this.

Here is an example of my G. Monnin manufactured Heuer. Notice it says "Made in France" on the dial and "Professionel" is the French spelling.




And here is another watch I used to own, a Bessa Prestige. It was also manufactured by G. Monnin & stamped with the same '844' reference number as its Heuer cousin.




Was G. Monnin a watch manufacturer in their own right or were they an engineering company that provided tooling to manufacture watch cases etc? Is G. Monnin the same company that produced this Georges Monnin pocket watch?
