First get some soothing broaches...these are by Bergeon that come in 2 sets...get both... the are tapered, smaller diameter towards the tip and wider towards the base.

Get the hand with the particular hand hole size you want to end up with (this case the Molnija hands that came with pocket watch)
Put hand through the appropriate sized broach...it will slide down from the tip until hand hole size equals diameter of broach at a particular point along its length:

Since the hand hole of the 6497 (Gold hand) is larger, it will slide down further...see it in comparison to the smaller hole sized black Molnija hand:

Taking note of the position/point where the Molnija hand stopped sliding... move the 6497 to a point a little narrower (closer to the tip) than where the Molnija hand stopped....Why, you want your 6497 hand holes to be a little smaller because its better to be tighter than have loose and floppy hands!!!

the bottom of hands have some sort of tube that you will be modifying... always have hands oriented with tube closest to tip of broach!!!
Now holding the hands at your chosen position along the broach and at a perpendicular position...get some fine tweezers so you can squeeze the hand tube to a smaller size:

Squeeze tube (smaller harder) while broach serves as guide to give even/perfectly circular smaller hand hole size you want:

Squeeze/crimp the tube all around to get smaller hole... then mount on post of movement... if it is a little tighter, it will stretch out when being pushed by hand setters
Now you have modified you easy to find 6497 handset to smaller Hand holed Molnija handset!!!
