1. Does the case actually get marks? I have seen a few pieces, 292s, 317s, 335s, with some light marks on the ceramic that look shinier in some light than others. Any way to remove these or is that how ceramic scratches? Ceramic will pick up marks, but it's not damage to the ceramic case of the watch, it's whatever material the watched bumped into and picked up. I bash my watch into steel and aluminum surfaces all the time at work and usually pick up some shiny scuffs. They are easily removed by rubbing with a coarse eraser.
2. Anyone ever had problems with the lug tubes on newer models like the 335 vs the 317 or are the same tubes used in the lugs for strap changes as the 317? (Aluminum or metal insert for the screw to sit in) Ceramic can't be threaded so the 317 and 335 use a steel threaded female bucket that is built into the ceramic case lugs. Because of this, the threads on the screws are smaller diameter and smaller thread pitch than a normal Luminor screw. This makes the threads more delicate than those of a normal Luminor screw, thus you should not tighten them with much force to prevent striping of the threads.
3. Has anyone ever had a problem with the crown guard? Is that ceramic too or is that coated steal? The crown guard and lever are 100% ceramic just like the case. After owning two 317's and two 335's, I've never had a problem with the crown guard or lever.
4. Anyone ever had the case crack and or chip? If so how did Panerai handle that issue? Never experienced or seen a ceramic watch chip. And I've bashed mine into hard metal surfaces on numerous occasions. The stuff is pretty indestructable.
